Before & After Care

  • · Stop using any skin thinners (Retinol, Vitamin A, glycolic acids, AHAs/BHAs, any exfoliation) on the brow area two weeks prior to your appointment. If you have any questions about your skincare ingredients, please feel free to email me directly.

    · Any waxing or brow shaping should be done at least one week before your service. I can absolutely do shaping at your initial session.

    · If you tint your brows, tint it at least one week prior to the procedure.

    · Cosmetic Botox or fillers should be done 4 weeks prior/4 weeks after.

    · DO NOT consume alcohol, or caffeine 16 hours before appointment

    · Do NOT take any blood thinners (aspirin, ibuprofen, Niacin 48 hours before your procedure, this will cause excess bleeding and may affect your healed results).

    · I will NOT be able to tattoo over rashes, abrasions, moles, acne, etc.

  • 1. For 1 hour post appointment, please blot your brows with an antiseptic wipe provided to remove lymph.

    If the oozing dries on your brows, it’ll create massive scabs, and the brows will peel and flake like crazy!

    2. Within a few hours post appointment, please wash your brows with the aftercare soap you have been provided.

    A. Wash hands

    B. Get a TINY bit of soap and some water OUTSIDE OF SHOWER

    C. Wash gently in the direction of the hair. It’s a LIGHT swipe, just to help remove excess oil, oozing etc.

    D. RINSE THOROUGHLY to ensure all soap has been removed

    E. Pat dry with clean paper towel

    F. Apply balm (TINY AMOUNT, NOT GOOPY)

    3. Wash morning and night for 10 days

    4. Apply balm morning and night for 10 days (if you use my balm they will have enough left over for touchup if they’re using it correctly.

    RICE GRAIN amount will cover BOTH brows. NOT rice grain on each.

    5. No getting them wet other than washing OUTSIDE of shower. This includes shower, sweating, sauna, hot tub, ETC.

    6. No direct sunlight for 2 weeks

    7. NO MAKEUP. LOTION. FACE WASH. SERUMS. SHAMPOO. CONDITIONER. etc can touch them for two whole weeks.

    After that, avoid all products on them that include active ingredients (acne or anti aging products)

    8. NO picking or scratching at scabs. DO NOT sleep on your face!

  • If you wear contacts - you cannot wear them to your appointment

    - No Lash Extensions

    -If you think you have a Stye on or around your eyelid - you must reschedule your appointment

    -Lash lift and tint procedure must be done 24 or more prior to your appointment

    -No over the counter lash serums for 2 weeks before & after

    - If you are on a stronger lash serum such as Latisse you must discontinue use for 2 months before and after the procedure as this serum can change the integrity of the skin causing migration

  • Do's

    · Keep the area dry for 10 days, this does not mean don’t wash your face. Just be careful around your lash line

    · Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 3-4 weeks after procedure

    · Avoid sleeping on your face for 10 days

    · Avoid heavy sweating for 10 days

    Don'ts

    · Do NOT use washcloth, pick or scratch tattoo area

    · Do NOT use steam, sauna, swim for 10 days

    · Do NOT put makeup on tattoo area for 10 days

    · NO contacts for 24 hours, NO lash extensions for 2 weeks after the procedureSpecific for Areola Pre-care:

    · No sauna or tanning 1 week prior

    · No blood thinners or pain killers

    · No working out day of

    · No alcohol in your system

    · No caffeine for 16 hours prior to your appointment

    · Must be at least 12 weeks post op with healed wounds

    · No antibiotics 2 months prior

    · For lips specifically: If you have a history of cold sores you'll need to start taking an antiviral prescription (Valacyclovir, Denavir (penciclovir), Valtrex or acyclovir (Zovirax)), at least a week BEFORE your service. Cold sore outbreaks are often triggered by stress or trauma to the lips and skin. Therefore if you are a carrier, lip blush will likely cause an outbreak if you do not take an antiviral medication prior.

    Your appointment WILL be cancelled if you have had a history of cold sores and do not follow this instruction. This is because cold sores will affect the healing/results and can even lead to scarring. So please do not skip this step, you will be happy you didn't and have better results

  • Do's & Don'ts

    · After the procedure Aquaphor will be your best friend. NEVER let your lips dry out. No kissing for 7 days

    · Keep the area dry for 1st week

    · Apply extra Aquaphor when brushing teeth & when taking a shower to protect from the water

    · Do not apply ICE or cold compress

    · Do not use washcloth, pick or scratch tattooed area

    · Do not use steam, sauna, swim for 10 days

    · Do not put makeup on tattoo area for 10 days

    · Be careful while eating, small bites

    · Avoid the SUN for 1 week

    Further Advice:

    · Remember the color will fade anywhere from 40-60% during the healing process. It may appear like the color is gone but don’t worry….it will come back

    · Drink from a straw the first few days and avoid salty, spicy food

  • When you get home, you can remove the bandages.

    · You will need to wash areolas before bed with lukewarm water and unscented soap or cleanser

    · Apply the aftercare that is given to you by Sherry May Cosmetics in a thin layer after cleaning

    · Make sure hands are clean before you touch your tattoos and before you wash them.

    · Repeat in the morning.

    · You will continue this for 5 days minimum.

    · Please remember this is a new tattoo and should be cared for like an open wound.

    · Do not over saturate with aftercare balm and lotions. You don’t want to let the area get too dried out either.

    · You will switch to unscented lotion for 2 weeks, such as Lubriderm or Cetaphil, after your 5 days of aftercare balm.

    · Limit the wear of a tight bra for the first 48 hours, you will need to let the area breathe as much as possible during the healing process.

  • No application of any scented lotions or tanning lotions for the first 2 weeks

    · No scratching, picking or peeling any dry skin or flakiness

    · No foreign bodily fluids in or around the tattoo for 5 days

    · No activities that will cause extreme sweating for 5 days

    · No swimming pools, hot tubs or other bodies of water for 5 days

    · No UV exposure (including tanning booths) for 5 days

    · No laser light therapy, as it can darken/lighten or distort the pigment of the tattoo color

    · No exfoliants, retinol acids, glycolic acids and alpha hydroxy acids on the area for 30 days after the appointment (causes premature fading)

    · No massages

    -Aftercare instructions will be provided after your tattoo session. They typically involve cleaning the tattoo, applying a recommended ointment, and avoiding excessive sun exposure, swimming, or scratching the area.
